OECD High-Level Event on the Knowledge Triangle:
Enhancing the Contributions of Higher Education and Research Institutions to Innovation
Paris, 15-16 September 2016
Events Goals
The Knowledge Triangle approach in policy calls for better integrating the education, research and innovation activities of higher education institutions (HEIs) and public research institutions (P R Is) to foster greater synergies and impacts from public investments in education and research at the local and global levels. The High Level Event on the Knowledge Triangle offer s a n opportunity for senior government officials and a wide range of stakeholders to meet and share experience regarding how to better leverage and integrate the various missions of higher education and public research institutions, based on the initial findings of an ongoing OECD project on the knowledge triangle carried out by the OECD Working Party on Innovation and Technology Policy and the Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy, in collaboration with the OECDs Education and Skills Directorate. The project aims to provide practical insights on the role that education and research funding policies; governance structures; institutional leadership and stakeholder involvement can play in helping higher education and research institutions to improve their education, research and third - mission activities. It draws on both cross - country statistical analysis of the contribution of HEIs to innovation and the results of case studies of HEIs eco-systems. The outcomes of the OECD High Level Event will contribute to the development of the policy recommendations for the final report of the project.
