ICESmo

Survey on the economic and social conditions of the families living in the provincia of Modena.

ICESmo is a survey on the economic and social conditions of the households  living in the provincia of Modena.

Its key feature consists of surveying income and assets by using questions comparable to  the ones provided by the Banca d’Italia survey on household budget and to compare them with national data.

In addition to the main social and economic parameters, ICESmo surveys the use of  services addressed to the elderly and children, which represent the two main areas of local welfare.

The first survey (ICESmo1) measured the 2002 income of 1.235 families.

The second survey (ICESmo2) took place in 2006 and covered a larger sample (2.034 families) due to an over-sampling of two districts of the provincia of Modena.

The third survey (ICESmo3) was carried out in 2012 and involved 2020 families. Its structure, similar to the one of the second ICESmo survey,  is essentially aimed at analysing the economic recession effects on the standards of living of the families living in and around Modena.

The 2015 survey was carried out in collaboration with the project Energie Sisma Emilia and analyses extensively the social and economic effects as well as healthcare implications of the 2012 earthquake on a sample of 400 families living in the municipalities of Cavezzo, Mirandola, Novi di Modena and San Felice sul Panaro (in the provincia of Modena).

The ICESmo survey has been used not only for micro-simulation applications concerning local taxes, but also to support the analysis and the planning of local policies.
